I think it's a step in the right direction. I don't think any religion should get tax-exempt status. To me it's a blatant violation of the separation of church and state.

Dude, it's discriminatory. I agree with you in terms of the seperation question, but I'm pretty damn sure the way to that goal is NOT going to be via the Texas comptroller, especially when the church in question is one of those "well, we're not sure of the answer, but let's get together anyway" types.
